Insights on comfort and safety as perceived by urban public transport users

This study aims at offering the Authority for Quality of Service in Transportation (body of the French Ministry of the Environment) new insights on comfort and safety as perceived by urban public transport users (metro, buses, trams, local trains). The experience of using public is studied through 20 long semi-directive interviews conducted with residents of the 10 first French urban areas, with a variety in terms of age, NsSec and place of residence (center or outskirts). Interviews cover the access and waiting period, the travel time, as well as the egress travel period. The study also aims at identifying potential barriers to public transport usage associated with negative perceptions regarding comfort and safety.
