International Consultation on the Future of Highways, Ring Roads, Expressways and Major Roads in the Greater Paris Region

Highways structure and define urban landscapes, mobility practices, but also lifestyles in large metropolises. As alarming reports regarding climate change call for emergency measures regarding urban mobility, the Greater Paris Metropolitan Forum has decided to launch an international consultation on the Future of Highways, Ring Roads, Expressways, and Major Roads in the Greater Paris Region. Four teams were selected, and 6t is proud to be a member of one of them: l’Atelier des Mobilités (The Mobilities Workshop).

The Mobilities Workshop is represented by architecture firm D&A (Devillers et Associés). The pluridisciplinary engineering group SETEC, as well as highway manager APRR, are also part of the team.

The Mobilities Workshop will endeavour to re-think highways and major roadways as levers to promote intermodality and multimodality. We will jointly study, choose, test and conceive solutions to transform the key infrastructure of monomodality and solo-driving into innovative supports for efficient, equitable and sustainable mobility practices.

The results of this workshop will be presented as part of an exhibition at Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Paris, in spring/summer 2019.
