Master plan for line D: Territorial and mobility diagnosis

With 650,000 passengers per day in 2019, the D line of the RER (Regional Express Railway Network) is the third busiest line in the Paris Region. Marked by an increase in ridership despite persistent problems of regularity and punctuality, the D line will also undergo major changes in the coming years: the deployment of a new operating system (NExTEO), new trains (RER NG) and the arrival of the Grand Paris Express.

In order to integrate these changes as well as possible and adapt its offer to the territory concerned, SNCF Réseau has commissioned 6t-bureau de recherche, accompanied by Stratec, to carry out a diagnosis of the territory and its mobility. The study analyses their current characteristics and the changes that may influence the use of the D line.

This study relied on an analysis of the grey literature and of survey data provided by the SNCF and third party sources. These include the 2015 and 2019 D line count data (SNCF), the 2016 OD survey on the line (SNCF), the 2014 and 2015 national census data on commuting patterns (INSEE), as well as the demographic and employment characteristics of the perimeter studied (Île-de-France Mobilités).
