Parking policy in Bruxelle Capitale region : international benchmark, good practices and orientations of actions

The agency Parking.brussels centralise the management of the parking in Brussels Capital Region and have a key position. Indeed, parking management is a major lever for mobility and urbanism policies. Reduction of parking sway over urban space for th profit of other uses is an example of this logic. Likewise, temporal or monetary parking modalities influence the practices of the city. With Sareco, engineering company specialized in parking, and Stratec, engineering company specialized in mobility implanted in Brussels, 6t bureau de recherche accompanied Parking.brussels in identifying best practices and actions for his parking policy with an international benchmark.

The methodology used is structured in two complementar steps. The first consists of a detailed benchmark of parking policies in cities comparable to Brussels and the second explore specific problematics of parking from the analysis of the most pertinent cases on the subject. Thus we study the cases of Barcelona, Montreal and Copenhagen and 7 other occidental cities. The treated themes are linked to all the issues of parking : poverty and vulnerable populations, shared mobility, mutualization, MAAS…
